Innovation and Technology Drive Expansion

Stearns Electric Association member PAM's Auto is currently working on an expansion that will transform their business from a 19 acre, 44,000 square foot facility, to a 56 acre, 70,000 square foot under roof operation. Co-owners of PAM's Auto, Mike Meyer and Pat Huesers, purchased the 5 acre site of our current Stearns Electric Association St. Cloud Branch office late last fall as well as another 32 adjacent acres to accommodate their 2011 expansion.

PAM stands for "Pat and Mike", two friends that started repairing cars in a modest two car garage 20 years ago. Their business originally included rebuilding cars, body work and mechanical work, however in 2001 Meyer and Huesers made the decision to focus only on selling auto parts. This gave them more time and energy to streamline the process and incorporate more technology which is evident as you walk through PAM's Auto warehouses. At every turn each part is detailed and carefully entered in to a unique server on proprietary software written by Pat Huesers. Employees are continually snapping photos and filming high resolution videos of each part they dismantle and prepare for sale. Each and every item in the warehouse is bar-coded and searchable by GPS and an internal website. Each of these steps makes the process of selling auto parts more efficient and adds value to the company's customer service.

PAM's Auto is considered a late model auto recycler. The Company purchases vehicles which have been considered a total loss through an insurance claim. PAM's then dismantles and recycles almost every part of a car on-site including all the fluids making it a truly "green" business. The Company's commitment to sound environmental practices has earned it Gold Seal Certification. This certification along with outstanding customer service was instrumental in earning PAM's a contract from General Motors to be the Minnesota supplier of overstock and overrun parts. PAM's Auto recently was recognized by the Star Tribune as one of the Top 100 Workplaces in Minnesota based on an employee-based survey.

While preparing the recently acquired land for building, PAM's Auto is remodeling a portion of their current warehouse into an extended sales floor. The former Stearns Electric Association building will be used for storage and PAM's Auto has plans to add two additional warehouses. One being dedicated to distribution of overstock and overrun parts - a new and expanding part of their business and the other to shipping.

PAM's Auto is excited for the future and the growing opportunities to say "yes" more often to their customers.
